Bombay Mule

In celebration of World Gin Week, we like to share some travel inspired gin cocktails with you.

Today Mixologist Brecht Machiels from Let’s Drink Cocktails wants to take you on an adventure with a cocktail inspired by backpacking and going off the beaten track. Bringing spices of India and mixing it with Bombay Sapphire gin. A tasty cocktail with a lot of spices in the body perfect for adventurous travelers.

  • Ingredients

How do I make the Bombay Mule?
Fill a Mule cup (or a long drink glass) with crushed ice to half and add 60 ml of gin, 22 ml of lime juice (on average this will be more or less the juice of one lime) and 22 ml of Chai Masala Syrup (recipe below). Stir well. Top up with ginger beer. If needed add more crushed ice and garnish the drink with a lime wheel, star anise, a cinnamon stick or candied ginger.
  • Where can I find Chai Masala syrup?
Chai Masala Syrup isn’t easy to find but is easy to make yourself. Add equal amounts of water and sugar to a pan and heat until almost boiling. Stir well so that the sugar dissolves. Depending on the amount that you make, add one teabag per 250 ml water of Chai Masala tea to it while heating the water and leave it for 15 minutes so that all the spices of the tea are infused into the syrup.
  • Which gin is best to use?
Brecht chose to use Bombay Sapphire gin, not only because of the name but also because of the floral and fruity characteristics. Get your Bombay Sapphire Gin here.
