Carolus
Gouden Carolus, what a fantastic name for a beer… The beer was named after Emperor Charles and is world-renowned for its unique flavour.
This imperial beer is the result of a long-standing Mechelen tradition and was mainly served during the fox hunt. The beer had a rather intoxicating effect on the riders and the horses, making for a rather enjoyable hunt.
The traditional high fermentation is combined with balanced caramel and aromatic malts. The result is a unique beer, which reconciles the warm glow of wine, with the thirst-quenching properties of beer.
Delicious when paired with game, a stew or paté.
