Guy Foubert was born in 1938 in Sint-Niklaas. He soon became famous for his delectable, handmade truffles. When he married the love of his life, Liliane, they decided to change the company’s name to Guylian, as a mark of their love and dedication. Soon after Guylian developed its iconic hazelnut praline filling.

They were also the first to produce chocolates in the shape of seashells. The beautiful marbled shell shapes tell a romantic story of immortal love.
